Dr Megan Slamka

Dr. Slamka is a specialist in equine general practice with an emphasis in dentistry, lameness, internal medicine and ophthalmology. Growing up in West Michigan, she cultivated her love of horses riding and showing. She attended veterinary school at the University of Minnesota where she tracked equine. Furthering her passion for Equine Veterinary Medicine, she completed a one year internship at a specialty private referral hospital in Elk River, MN. Prior to opening her own practice in 2020, she had 7 years experience working as a large animal veterinarian gaining expertise with all disciplines and all breeds of horses. With her husband Greg, Dr. Slamka has 3 wonderful children, 6 horses, a dog, cats, cows, and a bunny. She enjoys riding her horses, downhill skiing and spending time with family and friends in her spare time. She is very excited to be able to live and work where she grew up and raise her children in such a beautiful place as West Michigan!

Jillian Sommerfield is Shoreline Equine’s Office Empress.  She is a Montague Alumni that comes from a large family. Jillian and her husband Paul have 2 amazing children, 5 Nigerian Dwarf goats and 2 bunnies. Her children, Carson and Hailey, are a huge sense of pride and joy for her. She will happily share stories of their antics when asked. Jillian is a Baker College graduate with an Associates Degree as well as a certificate in Surgical Technology. After many years of providing direct patient care to humans, she made a career change to join Dr. Slamka in the veterinary world. Eight months of the year, Jillian is a social butterfly who loves being outdoors. During the winter months, however, you are much more likely to find her under her Grandma's afghan reading a book. Other than cold weather or an empty bottle of wine, there are not many things that make her frown. One of her favorite quotes:
